How to Create a Stylish Photo Frame

With the recent announcement of google removing Picnik you may want to consider an alternative that won't be taken away from you.

Create a photo frame using Photoshop Elements Tutorial
If you are like me - like to create and take photos, then Photoshop Elements is perfect.

Elements is designed for people like us!

I've been using Elements for a year now. I was excited when I discovered I could create a fancy photo border. It was reasonably simple using layers and the cookie cutter tool with shapes.

Be kind, it's my first tutorial *blush*.

Can't see it? Press the round button (to the right of volume) for ''full screen' view.

If you're interested in a permanent editing tool all of your own:
Elements 10 is AU$173.25. To include Premier (video editing) is AU$245.50. This applies to a full version, an upgrade costs less. (I'm not an affiliate, I just really like it). I bought PSE10 last week. It cost less at my local camera store then it did online. Search around for a good price!

See another example of this exact same method being used for a photo frame in this post - buying your first dslr.

  1. This is great. Instructions are clear, your voice is lovely to listen to and now I want to go and buy Photoshop Elements (which I was going to do as I can't afford the Adobe Suite). Thank you.

  3. This is great - you're a natural genius. You'll be being head-hunted to run a course before you know it! your voice comes across as very relaxed too. Nancy

  4. Hi Nancy, Thanks for watching the tutorial, and for the positive comments. I had done a few takes before this one and kept tripping on my words. After a good laugh at myself I turned on my 'reception' voice and the outcome was a more relaxed, goofy me. Love that I had a visual capture of the process to share with others. I think I like making tutorials =)

  6. Thanks Brandi. It was an idea that sprung from the Spark Kit. What do I get lots of credit for & enjoy? My PC/graphic know-how! I'm keen to use your Blogger Calendar to help me include tutorials in future along with my other million ideas. LOL

    Hi Jeanie,

Am new to Photoshop Elements and find it very confusing...just ordered Scott Kelby's book which I'm eagerly awaiting.
Am a good amateur photographer but would love to learn Elements. Thanks for you tutorial, which I happened to stumble upon.
    Regards from Belgium,
    Hilde

  10. Jeanie you have a lovely voice and I would listen to you all day long. I really enjoyed the tutorial, a super job, and since I have Elements 10 that I am taking a class in I cannot wait to try it. However that being said do you have a written copy of the tutorial, I am a hands on girl and like to do things point by point so with a written instruction I can literally press here and go to there etc.
Thanks and hopefully this is not your last tutorial.

  11. Hi, thanks for all the positive feedback on the tutorial. Much appreciated!

Donna - so glad you found the answer to your current Elements query!

Hilde, Hello to Belgium. Hang in there, I thought the same thing. After a while it all starts to make sense.

    Wickedqueenofmean - awesome name, & you're welcome.

Gilliganp8nts - I don't have this in a written format at the moment, will keep that in mind for future tutorials. This won't be my last, I have a sexy set of head phones that I love to wear when creating tutorials lol. 12. Jeanie,

I just bought PSE a few days ago. I was a previous Paint Shop Pro user (amateur at best), and am looking forward to learning all the new ideas I can. Loved your tutorial, and in fact, am going to try it right now on one of my wife's wedding pictures.

  13. Hi, You're on the fun path of learning and exploring PSE. I remember feeling a tad overwhelmed when I first started. However there are numerous great resources to help you learn and work it all out. Glad my tutorial will be handy with your wedding pics! Have fun =D
