Photography Lighting - is it worth the fuss?

Today I stripped the spare bedroom of furniture. This was my new play space - my Home Photography Studio. I'm giggling as I type this, that sounds so serious. I'm a photographer beginner. My photography education has been from a five hour class and Scott Kelby's awesome app 'Behind the Scenes'.

Today was just for playing around and seeing what I could achieve with the lights. I am gobsmacked with the results. I hadn't planned to share any photos from today. Evident by my lack of makeup or hair styling.

The results are amazing,
I had to share!

As my husband put it, the difference is chalk and cheese.

All photos in this post were not retouched. I did 'arrange' the photos in photoshop, however no editing was done to the levels, brightness, sharpness etc. I wanted to share the results just as they are.

This time of year the sunshine in Geelong becomes limited. Add the fact that I work full time and you start to understand my struggle for taking a decent photo. I decided I would make my own 'good light' with some lighting equipment from Hypop. Looking at the results, I think that was a wise decision.

Do you struggle with lighting? What do you do to solve the problem?
