Instagram; How to make your photos stand out

Love Instagram and sharing photos of your day? Me too!  
I'm going to share which 4 apps I use to get maximum results. Average photos happen. You can make those photos better or 'arty'.

I have 11 photo editing apps. I've been using the same 4 apps for a while now, their my favourites. Doing this project, to share with you, I discovered even more about these apps! For this reason each app will have its own blog post. By the end of this series, you'll have the know-how to create photos that stand out.

In case you were wondering, the total cost of all 4 apps is $8.50. My lunch often costs more than that. The first app is Camera+. It costs 99 cents and is worth it. Camera+ does mention that this is a sale price and will go up. It has been at this price for a few months now. Grab it soon, just in case.

I can't go any further before I thank Carly Jacobs at Smaggle. [Thanks Carly!]. Carly suggested taking all photos using the Camera+ app. I didn't understand why she did this. Carly is savvy, she wouldn't lead me down the garden path. I started doing it, and now I get it.

Seriously, forget the standard camera app. It's so last week.



Benefit 1

This little gem I discovered by accident! Whilst taking a photo, tap your finger on the screen. This brings up a red circle. Drag this circle to anywhere on the screen. Place it where you want the focus to be, or where the lighting needs improving.

Benefit 2

I take many photos from different angles. Usually of items I'm wearing. I end up with a crowded Camera Roll. When I go to edit that photo I liked, I can't find it. Was it two to the right of that one, or three?

Using Camera+ your photos are stored in the Lightbox of the Camera+ app. Only the photos you select and save will appear in your Camera Roll. The benefit being, when you upload an image in the next app, or to Instagram, it's much easier to find the photo you want.

Tip; if you choose to delete a photo, it will be deleted instantly. It won't double check if you were sure about that.



Benefit 3

The editing options are easy and effective.

Scenes: From the Lightbox scroll through to an image you like. Select it by taping the magnifying glass and hit edit. Here you can view different scenes. These include; clarity, auto, flash, backlight, cloudy, fluorescent, food, etc.

FX Effects: Various filters are available. Under the FX Effects tab you'll have three options. Each option has 9 filters (27 all up).

1) Colour
2) Retro
3) Special

A forth option 'I heart Analog' is available to purchase for 99c. Tap the intensity option to change the percentage of the effect, until you achieve the desired outcome.

Borders: Simple and Styled border options are available. Tip; If you will be posting your photo to instagram, make sure your have cropped your photo to a square shape before adding a border. You can crop the image in camera+.

Whilst in borders you can also caption your photo. This includes the ability to add a date & time. The font and placement of the caption will vary depending on which border you choose.

What's next?

The best advice I can give you, is to get curious and poke around the app. Spend some time exploring all the features.
