Aussie Curves - Tribal

Aussie Curve challenges remind me of playing 'dress ups' as a child. Of diving into the ironing basket and wearing my mothers clothes for fun. Stumbling across the floor in her heels and admiring her blue eye shadow compact and thinking it was so pretty. I ❤ Aussie Curves.

This week I decided accessories would make the outfit. I had hoped to find a few pieces in turquoise that would work with the tribal theme. That didn't happen. Instead I found a cute skirt at Suzanne Grae for $50. Plus some accessories that were on sale. I got a necklace, earrings and ring. All for $25 from Lovisa. Perfect I had my look! A whole new style for less than $100.

I had a lot of trouble deciding which pieces worked best for this outfit. I wanted to wear a black shirt and my TS shoes that seemed to work with the theme. I felt edgy. However the camera preview showed a short frumpy woman. Eekk! Admittedly at that stage I hadn't done much with my hair, but something was off. I took a few photos wearing different items and then looked at those photos on the computer. It's a Visual Diary technique that works a treat.

Looking at the side by side photos I could make an easy comparison. Notice  how the skin toned shoes make my legs look longer. The shoes also have a low vamp extending the length of the leg. Not sure what a shoe vamp is? The nude colour shoes are a low vamp. The black shoes are a high vamp. It's where the shoe front ends - low or high.

My main goal was to create a look that was very me. I think the new additions to my wardrobe suit me and will be worn often. I love wearing the ring. It's comfortable and I like the pattern.

  1. You have great ankles. They are slim and the nude shoes feature them. Thats why the outfit looks best with those shoes. Its a great way of making a clothing decision.Love the choices.

  3. I had one outfit that I took photos of but thought I looked frumpy too. I change into a different one, which in person looked much better and seemed to look better int he photos. Until I loaded them into the computer, and I decided the first lot looked better afterall!!

It is amazing how swapping the top and shoes just altered the look so dramatically!

    1. Thanks Amanda. I did the sitting shots because I was getting bored. It was raining outside and I really wanted to take these photos down by the park for some awesome scenery shots. Reason 93237 for not leaving these photos til the day before.

    1. Thanks. I liked both outfits, I just don't like looking even shorter than I already am LOL. It would totally work for a taller person.

    1. Thanks. Yes I'll have to work out how to make the black shoes work. Maybe with jeans or a long skirt? We may see them again down the track.

  13. Gorgeous Jeanie. And for me, nude shoes are always SUCH a win. Longer legs, slimmer ankles and all that. What's not to love. You look gorgeous and your photos, as always, are an inspiration.

    1. Thanks Melissa, yes the nude show was purchased specifically for that reason. I noticed I didn't have any and went in search of them. Re the photos, I aspire to have images like Keiko Lynn. I have a long way to go.

  14. I really love your posts, just because it shows how much time you put into this. It's so polished and I love that, it's like magazine quality. I think seeing the side by side photo is great, I can see the difference and while I liked the black, the other certainly popped more. I think I need to go and look at that skirt because I may be in love with it!

    1. Thanks Natalie. That means a lot. I aim for magazine quality images. I aspire to have images like Keiko Lynn and Girl with Curves. They're photos leaving me drooling.

Yes the skirt is current season if you go looking for it. Suzanne Grae had a number of tribal looking pieces. (Most of them were too tight a fit for me).

    1. The side by side comparison is awesome to use. A simple shirt and shoe change makes a huge difference! I look much more lady like with the rust shirt and nude shoes. It's almost like one outfit is for day wear and the other night wear.
